I created this blog to inform other individuals on the beneficial changes that one life can have on another in order to improve overall health and wellness.
On December 10, 2011 I was at a dentist appointment with my daughter sharing a testimonial with the dentist assistant regarding how I advance my health status in 45 days by the choice foods I now consume. I told her that my mother, younger sister, as well as my own child had already begun eating a balanced diet consisting of either vegan or vegetarian choices. I shared with her how I was influenced by their transformation of health and wellness in such a short time-frame.
To my surprise the assistant had been encouraged several times by the dentist Dr. Egan, a vegan of 9 years, to change her eating habits. Dr. Egan's assistant shared with me that she suffered from migraines and acid reflux. I informed her that I too use to suffer from the exact symptoms along with other health issues. I informed her that most of all my health concerns have been alleviated since the change of my diet.
The young lady was intrigued to learn more of how I improved. I was happy to share with her what began the transformation process; one small change. I told her I began with introducing the green drink to my daily routine. Every morning I would blend 8oz of Almond milk with 1 scoop of green drink powder by Amazing Grass at Whole Foods. I told her that after about a week from the change I stop drinking coffee because the green drink provided more energy than the 3+ cups of coffee I use to consume daily. I encourage the dental assistant to take a gradual change to her diet. I informed her that it's best to add a small change, which will eventually turn into an everyday lifestyle habit...smiles.
Dr. Egan's assistant shared with her co-workers my testimonial, and then they began to ask me questions about recommendations to their aliments. At that point it dawned on me, "The affects that one experience has on another can be very inspiring." Dr. Egan shared with me his personal journey to better health, which he stated happened with an indirect intent.
The idea that there are others who desire to improve health and wellness, yet unaware of how to begin influenced me to create 'In the Raw - Detroit'. Most individuals I speak to always ask the question, “Where can I learn more?” I decided to devote a part of my energy on sharing, networking, and informing others with information and resources so they can receive the same positive effects in their lives...smiles.
January 2012 will be our first meet-up event.
Location to be announced soon...
